Four ‘Peculiar’ RRd stars observed by K2

نویسندگان

چکیده

Four stars pulsating simultaneously with a dominant period $P_D$$\in$(0.28,0.39) d and an {\it additional} $P_A$$\in$(0.20,0.27) have been identified from among the more than 3000 RR Lyrae observed by Kepler space telescope during NASA's K2 Mission. All four are located in direction of Galactic Bulge ratios, $P_A$/$P_D$, significantly smaller those most double-mode (RRd) stars: $P_A$/$P_D$$\in$(0.694,0.710) vs. $P_1$/$P_0$$\in$(0.726,0.748). Three faint ($<$$V$$>$=18--20 mag) distant `peculiar' RRd (pRRd) discovered Prudil et al. (2017); fourth star, EPIC 216764000 (=V1125 Sgr), is newly pRRd star several magnitudes brighter other three stars. In this paper high-precision long-cadence photometry analyzed detail used to study cycle-to-cycle light variations. The pulsational characteristics compared `classical' `anomalous' (cRRd, aRRd) conclusion that form separate group pulsators not simply very-short-period cRRd confirmed. A Continuum of Accretion Burst Behavior in Young Stars Observed by K2

We present 29 likely members of the young ρ Oph or Upper Sco regions of recent star formation that exhibit “accretion burst” type light curves in K2 time series photometry. The bursters were identified by visual examination of their ∼80-day light curves, though all satisfy the < M 0.25 flux asymmetry criterion for burst behavior defined by Cody et al. The burst sources represent ≈9% of cluster ...

Characterizing K2 Candidate Planetary Systems Orbiting Low-mass Stars. I. Classifying Low-mass Host Stars Observed during Campaigns 1–7

We present near-infrared spectra for 144candidate planetary systems identified during Campaigns1–7 of the NASA K2 Mission. The goal of the survey was to characterize planets orbiting low-mass stars, but our Infrared Telescope Facility/SpeX and Palomar/TripleSpec spectroscopic observations revealed that 49% of our targets were actually giant stars or hotter dwarfs reddened by interstellar exti...

Helium in Chemically Peculiar Stars

For the purpose of deriving the helium abundances in chemically peculiar stars, the importance of assuming a correct helium abundance has been investigated for determining the effective temperature and gravity of main sequence B-type stars, making full use of the present capability of reproducing their helium lines. Even if the flux distribution of main sequence B-type stars appears to depend o...

Multiplicity of chemically peculiar stars

Recently, with the goal to study multiplicity of chemically peculiar stars, we carried out a survey of 40 stars using diffraction limited near infrared (IR) imaging with NAOS-CONICA (NACO) at the VLT. Here, we announce the detection of 27 near IR companion candidates around 25 late B-type chemically peculiar stars exhibiting strong overabundances of the chemical elements Hg and Mn in their atmo...

Multiplicity among chemically peculiar stars II . Cool magnetic Ap stars ⋆

We present new orbits for sixteen Ap spectroscopic binaries, four of which might in fact be Am stars, and give their orbital elements. Rough estimates of the individual masses of the components of HD 65339 (53 Cam) are given, combining our radial velocities with the results of speckle interferometry and with Hipparcos parallaxes. Considering the mass functions of 74 spectroscopic binaries from ...
